Stephen Paul Lauzon
Lovingly Remembered
LAKE GEORGE, NY -- Stephen Paul Lauzon, affectionately known as Steve-O, passed away peacefully of cardiac arrest on Sunday, December 29, 2019, after an uplifting day of downhill skiing, his favorite activity. He was born April 2, 1958 in Lynn, MA to Paul and Lorraine Lauzon.

Stephen, the third of four siblings, grew up in the beautiful Berkshire Hills of Western Massachusetts, graduating with the Pittsfield High School’s class of 1976. A passionate lifelong learner, he attended the Naval Academy in Annapolis MD, obtained a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Lowell and a Bachelor of Arts in Physics from SUNY Plattsburgh, pursued advanced studies in Physics and Financial Mathematics through SUNY Albany, and continued his professional development through union-offered trainings.

As a mechanical engineer, skilled carpenter, and advanced millwright, Stephen served at project sites throughout the east coast. A member of the Millwrights Local 1163 Union and the United Brotherhood of Carpenters and Joiners of America, he was a tradesman valued for his work ethic, intelligence and creativity, love of teamship, and tireless enthusiasm for the recruitment of new members into the Union.

Stephen enjoyed an active life in his favorite region of upstate New York, by the mountains and shores of Lake Placid and Lake George. He was an avid camper, alpine skier, road and mountain bicyclist, two-time Ironman contender, mini-triathlon and Tin Man race finalist, and raced crew rowing in his youth. He worked with the Adirondack Speedskating Club to coach speedskaters of all abilities. Stephen shared his inspired love of children, animals, and nature with his family and friends. He appreciated classic jokes and challenging trivia games. A gifted musician and artist, he created countless sketches, paintings, models and dioramas, hand-crafted toys, and children's adventure stories. Stephen will be forever remembered as a loyal, loving and funny friend, companion, father, and brother, and for his positive outlook, his engineering, carpentry and “MacGyver” skills, his encouragement of others, curiosity and determination, enthusiasm for reading and learning, and friendliness. He saw the good in everybody.

Stephen was predeceased by his beloved parents Paul & Lorraine and Grandmother Anne. He will be lovingly remembered by Holly Kneeshaw of Lake George NY, his companion of 17 years; his step-daughters Hannah Elmer and Heather Rush, and step-grandchildren Owen, Kennedy and Leah; his siblings and their families, Janice Caporale, Mark Lauzon, and Michelle Lauzon; his dear friends Linda Dudley and Morris Cope; his children Chandi Lauzon, Noah Lauzon and his wife Winter, Hannah Harvey and her husband Kevin, Cara Lauzon, and their brother Johannes Nightingale; his former wife Regina Selig Mason and her husband; and his nephew and 3 nieces, 2 great nieces, and 3 grandchildren.

Memorial and interment ceremony will begin at 1:00pm on Thursday, April 2nd, 2020, at the Saratoga National Cemetery in Schuylerville, New York. A reception will follow the ceremony. All are welcome.
